Nigeria, Ghana business: Ademiluyi calls for strong bilateral relationship

The Chairman, Nigerian/Ghana Business Council (NGBC), Omoba Bambo has stressed need for Nigeria to strengthen its bilateral relationship with Ghana in order to grow the country’s economy.
Speaking to journalists in Accra during during the just concluded African Airshow, Ademiluyi explained that Nigeria and Ghana remained the only biggest economies in West Africa that needed to come together to foster growth.
According to him, Nigeria has the potential of driving West Africa in the direction that will benefit the continent adding that with the strong ties focused on specific areas like aviation, that the country will achieve a lot.
“We have strong ties that are focused in specific areas like aviation, we have to put our acts together by government supporting investments to grow in the country through political will.”
Ademiluyi, who expressed displeasure over the poor representative at the event by the Nigerian government, said, “Only the private sectors came to the show, no government representative. I am unhappy.”
He said,”You can see the strong government presence here, government supported this solidly and that is the only way you can have this kind of success.”
He challenged the country to play the big brother role in Africa in business adding that the business tempo was down.
“If the industries grow, government is the lead beneficiary, the industries expands, more people are employed, pay tax and the government is happy; and in my opinion, the government of Nigeria is absent here. It is unfortunate because they were looking forward to a strong government representation here”
Ademiluyi explained that Nigeria was looking forward to hosting the next airshow but to his greatest surprise, the representation was poor.
He said government’s position on investment has great role in affecting the development of the economy, as investors need to understand government’s stand on business.
He said,”From what I see today here, our game is not good enough. We may have all the markets, somebody else is leading.”
