Niger INEC sets for Presidential, NASS polls, says materials intact

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Niger State, Prof. Sam Egwu has reassured that all the electoral materials sent to the 25 local governments in the state were retrieved intact as distributed and secured with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Minna. He stated this during the inspection of the materials together with all stakeholders including the security agencies at the CBN headquarters in Minna . The items inspected included both Sensitive and non sensitive materials as directed by the INEC headquarters, Abuja. Prof. Egwu emphasized after he apologized to Nigerians for the postponement reassured of maintaining the integrity of the commission for conducting a free, fair and credible 2019 elections in the country. He however applauded the CBN, security agencies for securing the materials while commending the political parties for its peaceful conducts appealing for its sustainability during and after elections, that there will be no room for manoeuvre. The CBN Branch Controller, Moshood Ibrahim said that the electoral materials were retrieved as was distributed and is ready for redistribution hence it was stored in very secured area of the CBN without compromised. In his remarks, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, ACP Mohammad Baba Kura on behalf of Joint Consultative Committee on Security for 2019 election however handed down warning that it will not tolerate anything that could jeopardize the election process. He stated that police will surely deal with anyone found wanting ruthlessly for any action and inaction that would jeopardize the process no matter the status of the culprits while appealing for continued synergy among the political parties for the peaceful conduct at the polls.
