NCC assures of availability, affordability of telecom services

The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta has assured that the telecom regulator will prioritise availability, accessibility and affordability of telecom services to all Nigerians.
The EVC NCC gave the assurance in an address he delivered in Abuja during the Digital Africa Conference And Exhibition tagged: ‘The Fourth Industrial Revolution: Getting Africa Ready’.
“As a regulator, NCC is prepared to leverage the 8-Point Agenda to ensure availability, accessibility and affordability of services to every citizen of our dear country, Nigeria,” he said.
NCC, he said has committed resources and efforts towards deployment of services across the country to increase broadband penetration through licensing of infrastructure service providers to ensure Nigeria meet and surpass the 30 per cent broadband penetration target set for 2018.
Danbatta informed the audience of NCC’s readiness to deploy its regulatory authority as the organizing principle to consolidate the gains in the sector.
He recounted the challenges of telecom service providers in Nigeria and also the efforts being made to address them, particularly strategic engagement with all stakeholders to forge the necessary collaboration and alliances that will ensure improved quality of the consumer experience.
The event was attended by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN, who was represented by Minister for Communications, Honourable Adebayo Shittu and other stakeholders in the ICT sector.
The forum which is in its fifth edition is Africa’s premier consumer technology show, organised annually by Digital Africa Global Consult Limited to enable operators in the ICT ecosystem to showcase their brands and enhance their reputation.
