The event will be held at the Academy’s Presentation Hall from on Monday, 30th October, to commemorate it’s 60th years of meaningful contribution through training to the broadcast industry and in general to human capital development of the country since 1957.
Deputy Director, Academics and lecturer at the Academy Mr. Ayodele Aliyu says “As the FRCN training arm, it is not out of order, in the next one decade, to see an institution at par with it’s global counterparts”.
The Academy formerly FRCN training school commenced operations in 1957 as the only centre for the training of broadcast Engineers, Technicians, Studio Managers, Producers, Journalists and Newscasters.
Following the deregulation of the broadcast industry in 1992, the once exclusive staff training school began to accept application from suitably qualified private candidates which today makes it the foremost training institution in all specialized areas of broadcasting.
Engr Ajibola Abiola Director, National Broadcast Academy said “Changing the name to Academy is aimed at achieving an objective which is to make it an autonomous institution that will soon be awarding OND to students. The Academy is in the process of meeting the National Board for Technical Education requirement for the award of OND and later HND certificates to students. National Broadcast Academy over the years has raised broadcast professionals in Nigeria and beyond.”
