N500bn Industry Solicits Expansion, Women Empowerment for Economic Development

Small and Medium, scale businesses operating within Nigeria’s N500billion beauty and personal care products industry have sought for better economic positioning through the organization of Nigeria’s biggest beauty products and services fair billed to hold in Lagos this weekend.

The fair tagged The Beauty Souk facilitated by one of Nigeria’s biggest banks, Diamond Bank Plc in collaboration with Eventful Limited will raise the stakes in the promotion of female entrepreneurs, solidifying its commitment to empower women and enable them take their place in the economy.

Chioma Afe, the head of Corporate Communications of the Bank stated in a release made available to the Daily Times that the beauty products’ fair will give female entrepreneurs access to new markets and also enable them and other beauty care products lovers to uniquely express themselves.

According to Afe, “At Diamond Bank we understand what motivates Nigerian women; they are ambitious, dynamic, determined and very passionate. That is why we will always partner with credible initiatives that support the dreams and aspirations of Nigerian women and will continue to provide them with a platform and an environment for such dreams to thrive. The Souk seeks to inspire every lady to be the best they can be and Diamond Bank supports this vision, and will continue to bank on her.”

At the fair, the Bank will deploy its latest mobile payment solution mCash (amongst its various bouquet of digital products) to help facilitate seamless payment. Customers with their mobile devices would be able to conveniently initiate and conclude payment(s) instantly at the venue.

The fair, is expected to see the gathering of beauty enthusiasts in Nigeria’s over N500 billion beauty and personal care products industry, and help stimulate vibrant business networking among budding female entrepreneurs in the industry, connecting them to successful beauty practitioners, mentors, active customers and beauty care products manufacturers and importers.

Already, over 430 cosmetologists, beauty practitioners, beauty industry observers, beauty care mentors, beauty counselors and beauty care students/apprentices have signed up to attend the all-day long beauty products’ fair, while about 5000 Nigerian women are expected to attend the event which holds on Sunday.

Reiterating Afe, the managing director of Eventful Limited, Yewande Zaccheaus, stated that the beauty products’ fair will showcase products and services ranging from spas, facial lashes and brows, massages and treatment, makeup artistes products’ and services.

According to Zaccheaus, the growth in Nigeria’s beauty industry has been phenomenal, adding that Eventful is convinced that “facilitating the Beauty Souk will help establish networking opportunities for vendors, exhibitors or suppliers as well as provide a unique platform for entrepreneurs in the beauty and personal care products to market their products, expand their reach and ultimately grow their business”.

Among the various companies that have confirmed their attendance to the beauty products fair which is billed to hold on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, include House of Tara, BMPro, Zaron Cosmetics, Casabella and a host of others.
