N-Power: Plateau receives N87m monthly trains over 3,000 youths

The Social Investment Programme (SIP), otherwise known as N-Power, powered by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, has currently placed 2,900 persons in Plateau on salary of N30,000 monthly, which translates to N87 million monthly received by the State from the federal government to execute this task.
In her remarks yesterday, during a Media Interactive Session With N-Power Beneficiaries, held in Jos, the Focal Person and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on SIP, Dr. Sumaye Hamza, said “2,900 persons are currently receiving their monthly allowance of N30,000 making money pumped into Plateau to be N87 million per month”.
Hamza said some beneficiaries have invested in farming, poultry, rearing and cosmetology among others, adding that 8,970 candidates were pre-selected in the second batch of the programme and additional beneficiaries of 454 N-Build beneficiaries pre-selected and training materials delivered to the designated centers.
In his address, the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong said over 3,000 youths have been engaged in various skills across the 17 Local Government Area and have received take-off materials.
According to Lalong, “As a way of reinforcing the Economic Empowerment efforts by the federal government, my administration has given high priority to youth empowerment and we have embarked on a large scale youth empowerment in the 17 LGAs where over 3,000 youths have been trained in various skills and have received take-off materials; more are yet to come”, Lalong said.
Represented by his Deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, the Governor described the beneficiaries as ambassadors whose role include to educate others about the benefits of the programme adding that the state government has keyed into all four components which include the N-Power, the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, the Government Enterprise/Empowerment Programme (GEEP) and the Home Grown School Feeding Programme, he said.
