MPPP denies plans to change name

The Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP), has debunked rumour making the round that it has concluded plans to change its name.
Rising from its National Executive Committee (NEC), meeting, the MPPP said that those feeding Nigerians with lies for cheap popularity are impostors.
They disclaimed one Hamisu Santuraki who they said claimed to be a member of the party, noting that his actions are unhealthy for the nation’s democracy.
The MPPP NEC in a release signed by National Chairman; Hon Akanni Olayinka, Lagos State Chairman; Comrade Dele Idowu, Osun State Chairperson; Serah Elujulo and Osun State Public Relations Officer, Isaac Adeyinka, said it viewed seriously the “recent release by some political jobbers and looters of MPPP treasury as an attempt to cause internal division within the party.
“MPPP NEC said it has disclaim an Impostor ( Hamisu Santuraki) who is currently parading himself as the national chairman of Mega Progressive People’s Party (MPPP).”
The party absolved itself of his recent declaration to change the name of the party and describe such step as selfish and with ulterior motive.
The MPPP called on the media to disregard such attempt by the said Hamisu Santuraki and his cohorts to change the party’s name to Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN).
”We are using this medium to inform all Nigerians and our party members that there is no internal division among us and Hamisu Santuraki was never the National Chairman of our party, but a legally dismissed National Secretary on the count of gross misconduct in 2015. Secondly, We are also using this medium to inform the entire populace that we had never conceived or proposed to the National Executive Committee that the name of our party be changed to Mega Party Of Nigeria.”
The MPPP said its National Chairman, Hon Akanni Olayinka’s name and data are duely registered with INEC and not that of Hamisu Santuraki.
The National Chairman, Hon Akanni Olayinka had also in a message sent across to all party stakeholders urged them to disregard the emergency meeting Santuraki proposes to hold with them on July 25.
They also called the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),Nigerian Police ForcE, Concerned Nigerians and all party members to take note of the proposed illegal meeting and also to halt the illegal process, while calling on members not to be part of the meeting.
“We declare solely that Hamisu Santuraki is not our National Chairman and there is no faction in our party. All NEC Members of MPPP are solidly behind the only recognised National Chairman of the party who is Hon Akanni Olayinka and therefore declare that Mega Progressive People’s Party is not holding any emergency meeting as proposed by the dismissed former National Secretary; Hon Hamisu Santuraki who is on his toes to bring down the great party with a view to causing internal and external divisions among members.
“Furthermore, the National Chairman urge Senator Buruji Kashamu and his loyalists to be mindful of who they transact with in the name of Mega Progressive People’s Party, as the party is not for sale, it is untouchable for Hijackers and political jobbers,” the release added.
