Mother’s Day: Rep empowers constituents
A member of the National Assembly Hon. Dapo Lam Adesina has empowered about 250 trades and artisans in his Ibadan with a sum of N5 million Naira in commemoration of the International women’s day.
The empowerment scheme which was tagged Idokowo Omo Oloore was part of the financial scheme and business support programme initiated by the son of the former governor who is representing Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency.
While addressing the beneficiaries at Mapo Hall, the venue of the scheme on Wednesday, Hon. Dapo Lam Adesina said the empowerment scheme was part of his campaign promises made to the people while seeking for vote.
“This programme is in commemoration of the international women’s day which was celebrated yesterday and to further empower our women and men in business to further boost their business and self-sustainability.
“We are not just given them money we have also trained the people on how to utilize the little money to start a small scale business and expansion of already existing one in such a way that they will grow and advance in life. This loan is non-refundable and we want to plead with the beneficiary to use it well.
I am using this occasion to challenge all the privilege ones in the society, particularly those in the position of authority to help their people” Adesina said.
Some of the beneficiaries were Lasisi Aliu, a patent medicine store owner and Jimoh Funmilola, a dress seller, said the empowerment will help their businesses and other people around. “I will add the money to my business and I am imploring other beneficiaries too to do” Aliu said.
A party elder, Hon. Abolade Akinyemi, while appreciating Hon. Adesina said he is one of the best representatives to have been produced by the constituency, “we have been sending people to Abuja to represent us but Hon. Lam Adesina has within 10 months in Abuja as a Rep demonstrated his exemplary leadership style.
“He took after his father, who was always on the side of people while alive, I was very close to his father while alive and this is the same way he used to empower people while alive” Akinyemi said.
