More youths test positive for Conronavirus in Lagos

Youths between the ages 20 to 49 have tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19 in Lagos, which is the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria, more than any other age brackets.

According to the statistic provided by the Lagos State Ministry of Health on Sunday over one hundred youths were said to have tested positive for the virus.

Recall that the Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control reported that 86 fresh cases of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) were recorded in Nigeria on Sunday and 70 of the new cases are from Lagos

Lagos State Ministry of Health on its Twitter handle shared a graph showing that of the 218 as at 19th of April that have tested positive for the coronavirus COVID-19 157 of them are youths under the ages of 20 to 49

More man have contracted the disease more than women as the graph shows that 70% of those with the virus are men

The youths are the bulk of those that have so far contracted the disease according to the graph as seen below

10-19 = 14

20-29= 34

30-39 = 63

40-49= 60

50-59 = 38

60-69 = 15

70-79=2

80 and above 2

The NCDC said that Nigeria had 436 active cases as at 11;50 p.m of  April 19, 170 discharged so far, while 21 deaths had been recorded.

The breakdown of cases by state is: Lagos- 376, FCT- 88, Kano- 36, Osun- 20, Oyo- 16, Edo- 15, Ogun- 12, Kwara- 9, Katsina- 12, Bauchi- seven, Kaduna- six, Akwa Ibom- nine, Delta- four, Ekiti – three, Ondo – three, Enugu, Rivers, Niger and Jigawa have two each, while Borno, Benue and Anambra have one each.
