Monarch reiterates commitment to education as he marks 10th coronation anniversary

To further demonstrate his love to his subjects, Oba of Apa Kingdom, Badagry West Local Council Development Area Lagos State, His Royal Majesty, Adekunle Oyekan, has promised his subjects to make education one of his top priority in this year. The monarch, who is set to offer scholarships to not less than 20 indigent students as part of activities to celebrate 10th anniversary of his enthronement, stressed the need for government to pay greater attention to the sector if the country is to develop. Oba Oyekan disclosed that the event which is slated for Saturday, January 26, 2019 will also feature commissioning of medical quarters to the Primary Health Care centre in the area as part of his commitment to the healthy living of his subjects. According to the Chief Press Secretary to the monarch, Mr. Daisi Fadeyi, the anniversary which has since commenced with Jumat prayer at Apa Central Mosque on January 18 will also feature series of events which include football competition, Beauty pageantry and church thanksgiving service. He said the football competition was organised for the youths in order to engage them meaningfully and promote the spirit of sportsmanship among them. “The beauty pageantry is to showcase the beauty of Apa ladies, to give them a sense of pride and value for being a woman. The monarch believes it’s good to make the young ladies believe in themselves and be good ambassadors of their town anywhere they find themselves”, he said. Esther Taiwo
