Monarch appeals to LASG, CP over Ibeju-Lekki land dispute

An appeal has gone to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai owoseni, to, as a matter of urgency, wade into criminal invasion on some parcel of lands in Ibeju-Lekki axis of the state by some unscrupulous persons.
A traditional ruler, the Oniwerekun of Iwerekunland, Oba Tajudeen Afolabi Elemoro, who made the appeal while interacting with journalists in his palace, on Thursday, said the invasion amounted to contempt of court, since the matter was under litigation.
He urged Ambode and the State Commissioner of Police to urgently step into the matter and arrest the breakdown of law and order that might follow criminal invasion of the land, by calling for order.
The traditional ruler claimed that the parcel of land situated at Oke-Odo Elemoro village (Parcel B), Ibeju Lekki, measuring approximately 33.228 hectares had been a subject of litigation between himself and one Toyin Eleku and others, pending before Honorable Justice K.O. Alogba of the High Court of Lagos State.
“It is of great importance for the Governor of the state and the Commissioner of Police to urgently do something about this matter because this is a violation of the law. I can’t imagine a reasonable and law- abiding person to unlawfully invade a land under litigation without respect for the law of the land. This act should stop and I know the Governor is an action person, who would not condone indiscipline and lawlessness by any person irrespective of his or her position in the society”.
He averred that the parcel of land, had by virtue of Notice of Excision issued by the Governor of Lagos State on the 16th of May, 2005 and contained at page 132 of Lagos State of Nigeria Official Gazette No. 19 Volume 40, was exercised in favor of Oke- Odo Elemoro village.
