Mobilize masses to liberate Nigeria, Falana tells labour, progressive forces

Rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, on Sunday assessed the two years of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari with a call on the labour movement and all progressive forces to mobilize the people with a view to liberating the nation.

Falana, in an interview with the Daily Times, recalled that the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), before assuming power promised to fight terrorism, abolish corruption, end impunity and change poverty to prosperity.

The lawyer noted that two years after assuming office, the administration has fought and tamed the insurgents but has not defeated terrorism.

Falana observed that although the Buhari administration has attempted to challenge corruption, the monster is fighting back.

He further stressed that because the administration allowed the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank to continue to control the economy of the nation, poverty is on the ascendancy.

He thus urged the labour movement and all progressive forces to mobilise the people to liberate the nation.

His words: “The APC promised to fight terrorism, abolish corruption, end impunity and changed poverty to prosperity. After two years the administration has fought and tamed the insurgents but has not defeated terrorism.

“It has attempted to challenge corruption but the monster is fighting back.

“Having allowed IMF and World Bank to continue to control the economy, poverty is on the ascendancy. The labour movement and all progressive forces should mobilize the people to liberate the nation”, he said.
