Mimiko: After peaceful council poll, bright future awaits PDP
Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State on Wednesday said the outcome of last Saturday’s Local Government election in the state portrays a bright future for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following its overwhelming victory in the poll.
Mimiko who spoke at a stakeholders meeting in Akure, the state capital, noted that the conduct of the election where new chairmen and councilors were elected under a peaceful atmosphere would help deepen the programme of his government at the grassroots level.
He disclosed that part of his covenant upon the inception of his administration was to keep working for the people round the clock and emplace true governance that cares and show much concern about their welfare.
He observed that his government has initiated various heart caring programmes which had been able to manifest in the life of the people of the state and giving them the voices of their own among people of other states while putting in place robust feedback mechanism for efficient service delivery.
Describing his government as a responsible one whose policy has translated to the upliftment of the lives of the people, Mimiko expressed optimism of a bright future for the PDP, noting that his administration has engendered the right confidence in the people through its people-driven projects that spread across the state.
The governor urged the stakeholders to sustain their high level of commitment and love for the party and solicited their support in the forthcoming revalidation and registration of new members of the party.
Mimiko who expressed satisfaction at the turn out of eligible voters and the arrangement put in place by Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC), during the election said the PDP has performed well in all areas of development to always get the support of the people of the state in all elections.
He said the elected officers are very close to the people at the grassroots and urged them to repose the confidence the people have in them by embarking on life touching projects and programmes at their various local communities.
