Meet Kenwiza: The Nigerian Producer Behind Some of Your Favorite Hits

Kenwiza is a visionary music producer and sound engineer whose work in Afrobeats and alternative Alté has earned him recognition both locally and internationally. Originally from Delta State, Nigeria, and born in Port Harcourt, he was raised and educated in Benin City, an emerging cultural hub that has produced artists like Rema and Shallipopi. It was in this vibrant environment that Kenwiza developed a deep-rooted connection to Nigeria’s rich musical heritage.
His journey into music began in 2015 and evolved into a professional career following his graduation from the University of Benin in late 2019. Known for his distinctive production style, characterized by heavy basslines, lush synth layers, and signature drums and percussion, Kenwiza has established a sonic identity that cuts across genres and borders.
He gained early traction by sharing his beats on YouTube, building a dedicated audience and sparking collaborations with emerging artists. His breakthrough came with “Maria,” a standout track on Victony’s Saturn EP featuring Falz the Bahd Guy. The song spotlighted Kenwiza’s ability to fuse genres and create emotionally rich soundscapes.
Since then, he has worked with a diverse roster of talents including Necta, UK-based artists PrincetheKid and Tony Jaiye, St. Seii, Adam Srae, and Zimbabwean singer Takura on the soulful single “Cold.” His production and engineering skills also shaped Romeo, an EP by Kaptain Swizzy, and he co-produced Victor Thompson’s global gospel hit “This Year (Blessings),” which has surpassed 300 million streams and achieved platinum certifications in multiple countries. The song has seen remixes featuring American rapper Gunna and Moroccan artist Kouz1.
Now based in Manchester, Kenwiza continues to push creative boundaries, infusing every project with cultural depth and emotional nuance. Looking ahead to 2025, he plans to release his own music, bringing his Afrobeats- and Alté-infused sound to an even broader global audience. With a strong commitment to innovation and storytelling, Kenwiza is steadily carving out his place as one of Nigeria’s most dynamic musical exports.
