MCs endorse Obiano for second term

The Association of Masters of Ceremonies, Anambra State chapter, has unanimously endorsed Governor Willie Obiano for a second term in office, come November 18 governorship election in the state.
The endorsement was during a Summit organised by the group at the Emmaus House, Awka recently.
The summit with the theme, ‘Public Communication, Democracy and Good Governance,’ had over 1000 youths in attendance.
Addressing the group, Governor Obiano emphasised the important role of the Masters of Ceremonies in dissemination of information, saying the information they offer can mar or make the audience.
Governor Obiano disclosed that the state ultra-modern television station at ABS compound would soon be commissioned, saying the station would be the first digital television station in the South East, alongside the radio power which would be sufficiently equipped to meet global standard.
The Governor said his administration would continue providing measures to give economic respite to the people, adding that the ongoing first and second phase of N20 million choose-your-project community initiative would be sustained, in addition to the N10 million mapped out for the 61 markets in the state.
He noted that he would not relent in investing heavily in agriculture, especially now the state had gotten approval to export five million tubers of yam, together with vegetables to the United States of America, saying every logistics had been made available and cold room provided to ensure adequate preservation.
Obiano stressed that the International Airport City, which would be completed in three years, would transform the state and boost exportation and economic activities.
The Governor pointed that his administration would always promote talents and creativity and he would assist them to attain national and international recognition.
The Chairman of the occasion and the former Ambassador of Nigeria to Spain as well as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, Iyom Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, said the members of the association had the power to validate or injure reputable institutions in line with their duties, urging them to be truthful and project the good image of the state.
He commended Governor Obiano for the quality leadership he has provided especially, the giant infrastructural projects he had attracted.
In their separate remarks, the National Chairman of APGA and the member representing Nnewi South 1, Hon. Kingsley Iruba, stressed the need for Governor Obiano to complete the good works he had started, for the general interest of the state.
In his keynote address, one of the guest speakers, Prof. Obikeze Sunday, urged the MCs to make judicious use of information at their disposal to project the state.
The Coordinator and the Former Commissioner for Information, Chief Maja Umeh, expressed gratitude to the governor, saying the group would do everything possible to ensure his second term was achieved.
The endorsement came with a unanimous voice vote moved by Mr. Nkem Okereke and was supported by Mr. Emeka Nsofor.
