Marvic Empire a conglomerate of beauty businesses – CEO Maryann Irhoube Usman

Popular Port Harcourt hair vendor and CEO of Marvic Empire, Maryann Irhoube Usman has advised young, up-and-coming entrepreneurs to be relentless in their quest to break even in their business endeavours.

She gave the advice while speaking at a special promo organised by Marvic Empire for its customers.

Sharing the story of her entrepreneurship success, the 24-year-old said: “To be a successful business person, you need passion and determination. Even while I was still an undergraduate at the University of Port Harcourt, I had started working in the hair industry, and after my graduation, I intensified my effort, garnering hands-on experience here and there. So you must start early and be mindful of the saying that Rome was not built in a day.”

Speaking further, she also advised that entrepreneurs take advantage to expand along the value chain of their niche, again, using Marvic Empire, a luxury hair store and fashion accessories, as an example: “Many people who only know of the Marvic Empire brand only knew that we are leading hair vendor. But our teeming customers knew we are more than that. Marvic Empire encompassed many businesses under the fashion and beauty sector and this includes sales of hair wigs, beauty spa and unisex saloon amongst others.”

She further urged new business founders to think carefully before coming up with a business name. Said she: “A business name is not something you change every year or after some years. So you must think well before choosing a name, such that when the business expands in future, the business name will not seem inadequate or inappropriate.”

Making an example of Marvic Empire, she offered: “Marvic is a coinage from both my name and my partner’s; Empire connotes that a lot of things can come under it. Hence, I have a business name that can accommodate expansion and subsidiaries.”
