Market capitalisation appreciates by N62 billion on first trading session in May

Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed the month of May upbeat as market indicators appreciated by 0.80 percent on Tuesday.

The market capitalisation recorded an improvement of N62 billion on the first trading day in the month of May and closed at N8.974 trillion.

The All-Share Index also posted an increase of 206.67 points or 0.80 percent to close at 25,965.15 basis points

Fidson Pharmaceuticals and NPF Microfinance Bank recorded the highest gain of 9.09 percent each to close at N1.20 and N1.44 per share respectively.

FBN Holdings was next with a gain of 5.36 percent to close at N3.34, Presco gained 5.00 percent to close at N47.25 and Eterna increased 4.95 percent to close at N3.18 per share.
Conversely, UACN recorded the highest loss for the day, dropping by 4.98 percent to close at N13.75 per share.

Jaiz Bank trailed with a loss of 4.35 percent to close at N1.10, while Forte Oil was down by 4.23 percent to close at N43 per share.
AIICO and FCMB also lost 4.23percent and 3.77percent each, to close at 51 kobo and 93 kobo respectively.

Zenith Bank emerged the most traded equity accounting for 34.3 million shares worth N524.34 million.

Guaranty Bank came second with a total of 25.6 million shares valued at N690 million and Wapic Insurance traded 18.4 million shares worth N9.2 million.

Transcorp sold 18.3 million shares amounting to N16.3 million, while Diamond Bank transacted 16.2 million shares valued at N13.5 million

Investors in3,392 deals transacted a total volume of 191 million shares worth N2.13billion. This is lower than 366.5 million shares worth N2.9 billion transacted in 3,598 deals, previous trading session.
