Man, 25, rapes 14 -year -old girl with down syndrome

Police in Ogun state have arrested a 25 – year – old man, Seyi Ajiboye for forcefully having carnal knowledge of a 14 – year – old girl with down syndrome (name withheld).
The suspect, it was learnt was arrested following a report on March 8, 2019, lodged at Agbado Divisional Headquarters by the victim and her parents.
The victim had complained that while she was coming from a church service at Oluwalogbon Street Abule Ijoko, the suspect who resides in the area lured her into his room, forcefully removed her under wear and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.
The Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, said that “the victim told the police that the suspect increased the volume of his musical tape to the maximum, therefore making it impossible for people around to hear her screams.
“On the strength of the report, the Divisional Police Officer Agbado Division, CSP Olatunji Omonijo led detectives to the area where the suspect was promptly arrested.
“He has since made a confessional statement to the effect that he actually committed the crime.”
It was gathered that the victim had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and report.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the anti – human trafficking and child labor unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID) for proper investigation and prosecution.
