Livingstone’s revelation: Resign now, Rivers APC tells Gov Wike
Following the damning revelation by Mr. Livingstone Wechie, the Executive Director of the Integrity Group early this week that all the documents his group used to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) were allegedly forged, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state has called for the resignation of the Governor Nyesom Wike.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, the Rivers APC alleged: “Governor Wike’s desperation to ridicule Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, his benefactor, mentor and predecessor in office with forged documents is clear. He is bereft of ideas and has no business in the Rivers State Government House. His administration has only succeeded to bring shame, odium and embarrassment to Rivers State and her people.
The statement which was issued by the Chairman of the APC in the state, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, the party continued: “He has for dubious reasons refused to pay our civil servants and Pensioners their salaries and entitlements; he has turned our State to Rivers of blood where human sanctity no longer has any meaning. He has destroyed our economic base and made it possible for foreign investors to invest in the State. Shamelessly, he made the world to believe that he can run a State like Rivers State like Chiefdom with only one paged budgetary provision.
“He has turned our State from the garden city it used to be to Rivers of dustbin. Our schools are now haven for criminals because he decides to close all the modern schools constructed by the golden administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. If he has any shame he should save us this agony and formally resign without any further delay, failing which the State House of Assembly should commence impeachment proceedings against him if it is not a rubber stamp as widely believed,” the party stated.
The APC recalled: “In a letter dated July 29, 2015, and addressed to the Senate President in a failed bid to stop the confirmation of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as a Minister the documents were all fabricated by the Rivers State Government under the watch of Governor Wike. The tantalising petition, which has now been confirmed to be fake, was laid on the floor of the Senate on August 8, 2015, and followed up with the summoning of Amaechi before the Senate Committee on Public Petitions, Ethics and Privileges on October 12, 2015.”
The party urged the people of the State to unite so that they could collectively liberate the state.
