Lions Club reinforces global leadership in disaster response

The Lions Clubs International is renowned for its swift and effective response to global calamities, earning its reputation as a leading first responder to disasters worldwide.
These are the words of the District Governors at the Press Briefing of the Lions Club Joint District Convention which kicked off in Ilorin, Kwara State yesterday.
The Joint District Convention, themed, “Serving in Harmony,” brings together members from two districts: District 40482 and District 40483.
They claimed the club is doing so much for the society globally, saying, it’s the first responder to any calamity in the world through their foundations.
In his address, Lions Tosin Ijaduola, said, the Lions Club, is a charity organization and what they do is to help the less privileged in the society.

“What we are doing is symbolic, a joint convention of two districts and it’s a sign that we are serving in harmony as the theme implies because, and two districts are together”.
For his part, Lions Tolulope said the Lions Club have over four million members in more than 200 countries.
Tolulope said, the club have just 10,000 members in Nigeria against 200 million, clamoring for more members in a bid to serve the less privileged more.
He said that being a member of the club offers several opportunities which includes, to develop new skill and to gain leadership experience amongst many others.
He also called on the government’s support to achieve their aim, pointing out that, Government cannot do it alone and should help club to be able to assist the government.
