Lanignan eyes NNL top spot

Crown FC striker, Gbenga Lanignan has said his side will finish at the summit the first stanza campaign of the on-going Nigeria National League (NNL).
The Ajilete Boys piped Go Round FC 1-0 in Wednesday’s NNL matchday 16 clash at the Soun Stadium in Ogbomosho.
A goal off the foot of Fimihan Atinusola proved adequate to hand the Ogbomosho landlords the vital three points at stake.
Laningnan said the home victory against the Omoku outfit is a huge boost to their dream to end first term on high.
“The win against Go Round is quite crucial as it’s our last home match before the midseason break.
“We needed the win badly to position ourselves towards challenging for the top spot on the log.
“Courtesy of the hard fought win against Go Round we now share same points with the group’s leaders, Heartland.
“Incidentally, our last match on the first term calendar is at Heartland in Owerri at the weekend.
“That’s a table topping clash as whoever that wins the encounter will automatically finish the first term as leaders.
“It has been our dream to finish the first stanza campaign on top of the league log so the clash offers us a rare chance to realise our lofty dream.
“We will prepare adequately as well as steel ourselves for the expected banters at Heartland.
“We believe to possess the will power to overpower Heartland right there at their backyard aimed at claiming the whole points at stake,” said Crown FC star.
Crown FC are second on the 18-team NNL southern conference on 32 points same as leaders, Heartland but on inferior goals.
