Lagos indigenes warn militants to keep off

Some Lagos indigenes under the aegis of Eko Heritage have warned militants attacking residents of the state, saying they may be forced to take drastic action to remedy the situation.

The indigenes, who observed that kidnapping had never been a culture in Lagos, lamented that since the incursion of militants, the pervading peace in the state had been disturbed.

The group, in a statement on Wednesday by its Chairman, Femi Scott, said it would not fold its arms and allow “things to degenerate in Lagos”.

“Kidnapping is not part of our culture in Lagos. We are peaceful and accommodating in nature. So, we implore those who are doing this to stay away from Lagos, because our hospitality is not stupidity,” the statement read in part.

The group commended the Lagos State Government and other security agencies for combating crime in the state, adding that the inauguration of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps would help in reducing crime in the state.
