Labour party accuses APC of abandoning its campaign promises

The chairman of the Labour Party (LP)in Lagos State, Femi Enofe has accused the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC)of abandoning its campaign promises to Nigerians, noting that the party seem bereft of ideas while the suffering of Nigerians has increased since the Muhammadu Buhari administration assumed office.

Enofe who was speaking in an interview with the Daily Times, noted that the current recession and the anti people policies of the Buhari led administration was a setback for the country.

The party Chairman berated the APC for abandoning its campaign promises of restructuring the country and guaranteeing true federalism, adding that the ongoing constitution review by the National Assembly was a betrayal of the hope of Nigerians.

Speaking further, the Labour leader condemned the recent council election in Lagos State, noting that the refusal of the state electoral commission to use electronic voting and announced the results in the polling units shows that the result was already predetermined.

He disagreed with the recent constitution amendment which empowers the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de- register any political party in the country that do not win any elective position, adding that the Supreme Court had ruled against such.

He said:” This government seem bereft of ideas on how to move this county forward, that can be seen in the manner the country is being governed, look at its polices.

“The constitution amendment was a betrayal of the hope of the Nigerian people apart from the age adjustment for contesting, the denial of the affirmative action for gender participation it took Nigerians several years back, the APC promised restructuring.

“The council election in Lagos was a reflection of political absurdity deriving for the flawed process, critical thing such as card reader was not used while counting was not done in the pooling unit which is deliberate to achieve set objective.

“There is an existing legal pronouncement on removing the power to de-register parties by INEC, any attempt to de-register any party would be transgression of such authority,” Enofe added.

He chided the administration for it lopsided anti corruption fight, adding that the administration had lost the will to fight corruption
