Kwara Lawmaker Promises to Raise Level of Proceedings
Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Justice, Dr. Ali Ahmad, has reaffirmed that the eighth legislature will raise the standard and level of proceedings at the Kwara State House of Assembly and serve as check and balance to the executive arm of government.
Dr Ali Ahmad, who gave the assurance, when the Ilorin branch of the Nigeria Bar Association paid him a courtesy visit in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, said the level of legislation would be raised without being antagonistic and confrontational.
According to him, it was time to serve the people and raise the bar, saying that high premium will be placed on the professional bodies to assist by taking part in governance and noted that politicians should not be left alone to run the affairs of politics.
Ahmad charged the NBA, to work towards providing good leadership in fashioning out programmes that would enable the government achieve developmental goals and serve as watchdog to the three arms of government.
The lawmaker, who thanked the executive of the NBA for the visit, assured that the eight legislature in the state would protect copyright laws and intellectual properties and amend the state laws to make it the most up-to-date in the country.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Ilorin branch of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Barrister Mobolaji Ojibara, who congratulated the lawmaker for his resounding success at the poll, stressed the need to sustain the symbiotic relationship existing between the Bar and the House.
