Kogi Judicial Probe Panel Begins Sitting
Kogi State Judicial Commission of Inquiry probing public officers who held office from 2003 to date has commenced sitting yesterday in Lokoja.
Chairman of the Commission, Justice Wada Abubakar Omar (RTD) assured the public that the commission was not out to witch hunt anybody but to discharge its duties without fear or favour.
He urged the counsels as well as the general public to cooperate with the commission to enable it discharge its responsibilities effectively by submitting memorandum.
Justice Omar further stated that the commission members are eminent men that are well respected in the country and beyond adding that they will be thorough and fair in the discharge of their duties.
“We are on a fact finding mission and the terms of reference for the commission are clearly stated. So we shall follow it to the letter,” he stated.
The state government counsel, J.B. Daudu was represented at the sitting by M.A. Aliu, SAN, Taiwo O. Taiwo, SAN while H.O. Afolabi with his team of lawyers claimed to be prospective party and will submit a memorandum on a later day. Other lawyer at the sitting was Barrister U.A. Muhammed who appeared as a lawyer watching the brief and promised to cooperate with the commission.
The Commission has 12 weeks to sit on the inquiry.
