Kogi Assembly politics not a war front, says Shigaba

A member representing Bassa Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Sunday Shigaba, has warned his colleagues to be respecters of the law.

Shigaba, a member of the G15 supporting the leadership of the embattled Speaker, Hon. Momohjimoh Lawal, while addressing newsmen recently in Lokoja said thatas law makers, due process and laws should be maintained in the legislative business of the state.

It would be recalled that the State Assembly has, since the last quarter of 2015, been embroiled with leadership tussle.

Lawal and the members of his group, the G15 had approached the National Assembly to intervene. In response, the House of Representatives invoked Section 11(4) of the

1999 Constitution which empowers the National Assembly to take charge of any State Assembly if the latter could not transact legislative business by reason of prevailing situation in the state.

Despite the seal off order by the National Assembly, it was learnt that a group which purportedly enjoys the support of the Executive, led by Hon. Imam Umar, as the Speaker, has been performing legislative functions.
