Kebbi fixes council poll for July 15

The Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission has fixed July 15, 2017, for the conduct of election into the 21 local government councils of the state.

The Chairman of the commission, Alhaji Aliyu Mera, made the announcement after a stakeholders meeting in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday with representatives of 28 political parties.

According to him, the early announcement is to enable political parties, stakeholders and the general public to prepare.
He said that the commission would in due course; notify the stakeholders on further arrangements for the election.

Mera solicited the support and cooperation of all stakeholders towards conducting a free, fair and credible council election.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the 28 political parties at the meeting were Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), Alliance for Democracy (AD) All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), among others.
