Tinubu nominates 39-year-old Abdullahi Ramat as NERC Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new chairman and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, announced the nomination in a statement on Thursday.
According to Onanuga, Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer and administrator with a PhD in strategic management, among other qualifications.
Tinubu also nominated two other persons as commissioners of NERC.
They are Abubakar Yusuf, commissioner of consumer affairs, and Fouad Olayinka Animashun, commissioner of finance and management services.
“All nominations are subject to Senate confirmation,” the statement said.
“However, to avoid a leadership vacuum in the critical regulatory agency, the President directed that Engr Ramat assume office in acting capacity pending his screening by the Senate, as stipulated by the law.”
Tinubu urged the nominees to deploy their expertise and experience in advancing his administration’s vision for the power sector.
