JAMB releases 2019 UTME results

…Withholds 34,120 over examination malpractices

Joint Admissions and Matriculation board board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations,UTME, withholding 34,120 candidates’ results in the process.

The board hinged the seizure of the results on malpractice which characterized the examination in most Computer Based Centres.

JAMB however released the results of 1,792,719 candidates out of a total of 1,826,839 that sat for this year’s UTME.

Similarly, JAMB said a total of 116 Computer Based Test, CBT centres, were delisted for engaging in fraudulent practices.

The Registrar of JAMB,Prof. Ishaq Oloyode, announced this, Saturday, at a media briefing in Abuja.

He said:”For the 2019 UTME, 1,886,508 candidates registered including those who registered at the foreign centres.

“Out of this number, which excludes the Direct Entry candidates, 59,667 were absent.

“A total of 1,826,839 sat the UTME. Today, we are releasing the results of 1,792,719 candidates.

Some 34,120 results are being withheld including the results of 15,145 candidates being further clarified as identical twins and siblings.”

Meanwhile a 15 year old candidate, Ekene Franklin from Imo State emerged the best performed candidate in the 2019 UTME, scoring 347.

Although he applied to University of Lagos, JAMB registrar said he may not be admitted on account of his age.

Franklin was followed by Emmanuel Chidiebube from Abia state, aged 16, he came second with 346 scores, while Isaac Olanilekon who applied to study at OAU came third, scoring 345.
