Inculcate Nigerian culture into education curriculum, Gani Adams tells states, FG

The national coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, has charged the federal and state governments to urgently inculcate some element of Nigerian cultures and practices into the education curriculum in the country to preserve the Nation rich culture heritage across generations.
Adams stated this at the 2017 celebration of the annual Okota cultural festival held at palace square Arigidi-Akoko town,ondo state, recently noting that there was the need to tap into the nation traditional practice to solve the nation modern needs.
Adams, who is the chief promoter of the Olokun festival foundation, stressed that the foundation was committed to the exploitation of Nigerian culture for the promotion of peace, unity and as a alternative sources of foreign exchange for the country.
He revealed that the festival was designed to explore the relationship between indigenous culture, art and national development, revealing that a committee to study yoruba people in Diaspora and how they can assist in the social political development of the country headed by him have been constituted.
He said:” The state and federal government should seriously consider the careful varation Of our traditional practices to our modern day requirements and also work toward combination of element of our culture, tradition into the school curricula”.
“We In Olokun foundation has resolved to uphold and promote the ideas an values attributed to mama Okota. we have constituted a high level committee on the Yoruba people in diaspora”.
“This committee operating with a brand name know as Odua union progressive. It has the task of identifying the identity of Yoruba indigenes base over-seas and the role they can contribute to economic, social and political development of Yoruba’s land”.Gani Adams said.
Also Delivering his lecture on cultural rebirth as a panacea to societal evil: The need for a new path, an associate professor at the department of linguistics Adekunle Ajasin university, Temitope Olumuyiwa, urged the govement to devise measures at revitalising Nigerian indigenous languages in schools.
He advocated for more funding for herbal plant research aim at evaluate the the safety and efficacy of traditional medicine, adding that recent research have proven that the cure to most health challenges were in traditional medicine.
He said: ” There is the need to promote and show cast our indigenous vulture through language,food,and festival such as the one been celebrated today. Government should held promote culture by coming with a well planned language police aim revitalising out indigenous languages”. Olumuyiwa added.
The Okota festival which was a two day event, began with an elaborate beauty pageant which was won by miss Efosa Victoria Namure, an 100 level mass communication student of the University of Benin.
