Incest: 2 fathers defile daughters in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the defilement of a 14 year old girl by her father, one Olawale Ibitoye in the Ketu-Epe area of Lagos.

It was gathered that Ibitoye who had sexual intercourse with his daughter identified as Raliat Ibitoye since she was 8 year old subsequently married her off to one Moses Okurukpe.

The state Commissioner of Police (CP) Imohimi Edgal who paraded Ibitoye and Okurukpe at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja disclosed that the incident came to the fore when the victim became pregnant and was taken to a traditional medicine house where she laboured for days before the baby died.

According to Edgal, “the cat was let out of the bag when the Survivor became pregnant and was in labour for many days without being able to deliver the baby.

She was then taken to a Trado-medical home where she confessed that her father had been having sex with her before he now forced her into marriage with Okurukpe perhaps to cover his tracks.

Contrary, the 45 year old Ibitoye denied the incestuous act with his daughter, saying “when she was in SS1 she suddenly stopped going to school.

But because I wanted her to be useful in life, I enrolled her in a sewing Institute. She was in the habit of going out for days without returning home and when I challenge her actions, she would raise her voice at me.

“She later brought Okurukpe home that she wanted to marry him. I told her I am not against her marriage intention but that I wanted her to finish her training.

So, she ran out of the house for a long time and when she came back, she came with a six months old pregnancy. I asked who was responsible and she said it was Okurukpe. I called the man and informed him and he didn’t deny it. When she was nine months gone, she couldn’t deliver.

“She later confessed that inspite of the fact that her husband had warned her not to have any sexual relationship with any other man while pregnant, she had had sex with two other persons which was a taboo in Okurukpe place.

“They did the needed traditional acts and she was taken to a hospital where she gave birth but the baby died. It was later she started saying the nonsense that I had been sleeping with her.

” I didn’t sleep with her, she is my daughter and I trained her. Why would I do such wickedness? He asked.

For his part, Okurukpe said, “last year Raliat took me to her father introducing me as her husband to be. The father told me she wasn’t going to school that she is learning sewing. He even requested I pay him back the N5,000 he spent in enrolling her in the training which I accepted.

“She came to my place three times and I had a sexual relationship with her. July 2017 I went to their house but the father told me the girl had packed out of the house to an unknown destination. I asked if he had searched for her, he said he was even tired of searching that when she is tired, she would come back home.

” It was only in January this year that she came back with a pregnancy of six month old that it was mine. I calculated when last I had sex with her and discovered the pregnancy was mine. So I accepted it and took her in.

” Although I hadn’t paid her pride price, I was taking care of her. With the little I was getting from my farm work and motorcycle business I made sure she didn’t lack anything. But she betrayed me with her promiscuity.

“She had sex with other men while pregnant and that was why she had difficult in delivering the baby. I didn’t even know she was under aged because she looked matured and had the looks of a girl in her 20’s.

” It was while she was having difficult delivering that she confessed to the fact that her father had been sleeping with her.”

Similarly, the State Police command also arrested one Ashiru Amusat in the Shasha area of the state for having canal knowledge of his 12 year old daughter, Boluwatife.

Police investigation into the matter revealed that the mother of the victim separated from her father just after her birth.

She was brought up by her grandmother and in April 2018, Amusat took Bokiwatife from her grandmother.

Amusat attributed his act to the devil saying the daughter had also consented to the act.

Edgal stated that the case was brought to the knowledge of the police by well meaning members of the public.

The state Police Commissioner further stated that the suspects will be charged to appropriate courts as soon as investigations are concluded.
