Imo 2019: Hope Uzodinma gets Diaspora endorsement

The chances of victory for Senator Hope Uzodinma, candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2019 governorship election in Imo State became brighter this week following the endorsement of his aspiration by a group of Imo State indigenes living abroad who said they are working to see him become the next governor of the state from May, 29, 2019.

According to a statement signed by its coordinator Chief Nnanna Okere and made available to the media, the group, Imo Diasporas Support for Senator Hope Uzodinma also congratulated the lawmaker for emerging as the preferred candidate of APC through a primary election that they described as very transparent.

The statement said that Uzodinma is the right choice of APC members in the state and therefore applauded leaders and members of the party especially the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for standing for justice, fairness and equity as enshrined in the APC guidelines.

While pledging to contribute immensely to ensure victory for Senator Uzodinma in coming election, the group promised to mobilise its members to return home in order to vote massively for the APC candidate as according to them, over 95 percent of their members had taken time earlier to come to Nigeria and register for the election as well as obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“We congratulate Senator Hope Uzodinma for his well-deserved victory at the primaries. He is the right choice for the party in Imo state and with him victory is assured.

Imo would surely become a blessed state with Senator Hope Uzodinma as governor because of his track record of achievements as well as his outstanding performance at the Senate through quality representation,” the group said.

It urged other aspirants who contested against Senator Uzodinma but could not make it, especially the Ugwumba Movement led by Uche Nwosu to embrace peace and work for the victory of the party to ensure continuity at the Douglas House Owerri come 2019 and also admonished the Imo APC Restoration Coalition not to see their victory over the Ugwumba Movement as a zero sum game but a victory for democracy.

The group also stressed that what should be paramount to APC was to concentrate and ensure overall victory at the main election not all these attacks on each other on the media as according to them Imo people are waiting to cast their votes for Senator Uzodinma in 2019.

“We therefore urge the people to be rest assured that Uzodinma’s administration will work towards alleviating the suffering of our people. Senator Uzodinma as governor will empower the youths to achieve their potentials.

As a passionate and resourceful leader who became a millionaire in his mid-30s when hard work pays, Senator Uzodinma is determined to work with the young, intelligent and vibrant Imolites to drive growth that is built on human capital with productive knowledge,” the statement says.

It would be recalled that there was initial confusion over the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, for next year’s governorship election until the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published the name of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the right candidate for the party.
