Ijaw group backs Atiku presidential bid, says it will guarantee peace, unity
An Ijaw group, Delta Ijaw Grassroots Political Movement (DIGPM), has backed the presidential ambition of former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar arguing that his emergence will guarantee peace and unity across the country, because of his support for restructuring, power devolution and true federalism.
The group in a statement signed by its Chairman, Mr. Oliver Isaac and Secretary, Mr. Ebikeme Banre, noted that the decision by Atiku to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and aspire to the office of president was not only apt, but was the best thing to happen in the history of Nigeria.

“Your decision to return to the PDP at this time is appropriate and your aspiring for the office of president in 2019 is laudable and a welcome development in the history of Nigeria as a whole as it is not borne out of selfishness,” they said.
While stating that Atiku’s political sagacity coupled with the concrete efforts of other well meaning PDP stakeholders were significant in producing Prince Uche Secondus as the generally accepted party leader, they said that the DIGPM was optimistic that with the PDP crisis behind them, victory was sure for the PDP in 2019.
