A coalition of the Igbo community in Taraba State, under the auspices of 20 million Igbos for Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and 700,000 for Darius Dickson Ishaku and Haruna Manu have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku.
The Igbo sons, daughters and women, who, our Correspondent gathered, dressed in Igbo traditional regalia, appeared in their thousands from various towns and communities of the 16 Local Government Areas of the State, where they pledged their loyalty and support saying they have endorsed him.
Speaking exclusively with our Correspondent at Government House, Jalingo shortly after the event, the Taraba State Coordinator, 20m Igbos for Atiku and Obi, 700,000 for DDI and Haruna Manu, High Chief Obi Chris said Governor Ishaku was endorsed for continuity considering his enormous achievements for the past past three years in Office.
“We were motivated by his achievements for the past three years and eleven months of his administration especially in the areas of security, women and youth empowerment, health, agriculture, education, water and electricity supply,
“The Thirty Thousand Teachers employed under his Rescue Teachers were very much viable and also most of the roads have been rehabilitated.
Chief Obi, further assured that the Igbos will fulfil their promise of staying to cast their vote in Taraba.
“We have gone round the Local Governments including the two Special Development Areas of the State to sanitize our people and to remove the fears in them before, during and after the electoral processes”,
“They have given us their words and commitment that they will be on ground during the voting period, because most of the election periods, our problem is running away with the PVC, thereby invalidating our chances of voting the candidates of our choice.
“We have accepted to do all these because of the security situation of the State, all coming from the leadership of Governor DDI”.
On the issue of operation show your PVC, which the Governor demonstrated by raising his first before the mammoth crowd, Chief Obi disclosed that the Igbos were briefed on the issue of coming along with their PVCs during the last time of their meeting at the Secretariat of 20 million Igbos in Jalingo, the State capital.
