Ibadan chief rallies support for local content policy

The Ajia Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, has advocated strong support for local content policy in order to create jobs in the country.
Adegoke made the call on Tuesday on the sidelines of the foundation laying ceremony of a traditional council building-‘Mini Mapo Hall’- at Ibadan South-West Local Government Secretariat.

The hall project was initiated by High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the Osi-Olubadan of Ibadanland and former governor of the state.
Adegoke donated N5 million worth of concrete blocks as part of his contribution to the execution of the project.
Adegoke, who is also the Executive Director of OES Energy Services Limited and its subsidiaries, said his gesture was to support the local content policy in construction and create opportunities for artisans at the grassroots.

“This donation to this project is not only a contribution to the development of the traditional institution in the state, but to support the local content policy toward job creation for artisans in the state,” he said.
” The idea behind my gesture is to use the opportunity to stimulate Oyo State’s economy by creating work and job opportunities for those indigenes that are into block making and selling of cement, sand, water tanker operators and the other ancillary services,” he said.
He expressed the belief that the gesture would have a multiplier effect on the economy of the state.
Ladoja, on his part, commended Adegoke for his gesture and implored others to also contribute to the development of the traditional institution in the state.
