Herdsmen: Group calls on Buahri, IGP to retire, investigate ex-CP

A socio-cultural organisation, the Nsukka Zonal Citizens, Abuja (NZOCA), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, to sack the former Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu, and fully investigate him, saying his unprofessional conduct aided the massacre of over 400 people in Nimbo community in the state by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
President of NZOCA, Chief Akogwu Ugo, told newsmen in Abuja of the ineptitude and dereliction of duty during the incident, adding that it was unbecoming of even the lowest ranking police officer in the Nigerian police, let alone a State Commissioner of Police.
The gruop, noted that the recent transferring of the Commissioner from the state was not enough, the body also believed that the subsequent attack that followed an hour later after the withdrawal of all security personnel, as ordered by the Commissioner, left much to be desired and called for a critical investigation of his involvement in the killings.
The group, which also called for sacking of the Area Commander of Nsukka, Mr. Monday Kuryas and all defaulters “for the unprofessional conduct, sabotage and unguarded statements in reaction to the barbaric and gruesome murder of innocent, peace loving, law abiding and armless good people of Nimbo in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State by herdsmen.”
