Heartland’s unbeaten record wonderful, says Ubido

Heartland captain and defensive midfielder, Julius Ubido has described as wonderful the side’s seven-match unbeaten record in the on-going Nigeria’s second tier league.
The Naze Millionaires defeated Akwa Starlets 2-0 in Wednesday’s Nigeria National League (NNL) matchday 13 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri to consolidate on its summit position as well as extend the on-going season’s unbeaten run to seven.
Ubido said his side have no intention to stop winning as that singular act brings more fortune to their individual purse.
“Seven-match unbeaten is a wonderful experience for a brand new team like Heartland.
“At the time of relegation to the lower league virtually all the first team players left the side to seek greener pastures elsewhere leaving just a handful of us and the rookies to steer the team’s fortune.
“So we feel exceedingly great to have gone seven matches unbeaten in the on-going season.
“We want to extend the unbeaten run indefinitely till the main target is achieved – promotion.
“We do not want to stop winning as that in a way guarantees a sure and steady income in form of bonus which aside God’s grace has been the inspiration and motivation for us to keep doing well.
“Of course, the team spirit among the players right now is unheard off in the history of the side.
“We are condemned to maintain the status quo at the top spot and stay there till the end of the season,” said the former Lobi Stars man.
The Owerri outfit are at the summit of the NNL southern conference on 26 points one above closest challengers, Go-Round FC.
Heartland will be the guests of AS Racine in Sunday’s NNL matchday 14 clash at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.
