Heartland allege IfeanyiUbah boss punched Mikel’s brother

Heartland have alleged that the owner of FC IfeanyiUbah punched goalkeeper Ebere Obi, who is the older brother of Chelsea star Mikel, after Wednesday’s Nigeria league match in Nnewi.

Home team IfeanyiUbah won the home game 1-0, but hell still broke loose after the match.

Heartland spokesman Solomon Onu alleged that Ifeanyi Ubah stormed the pitch to assault Ebere Obi before his security details pounced on other Heartland players like skipper Chinedu Efugh and officials.

It was further alleged that phones and cameras were smashed by security men to ensure the disgraceful scene was not on record.

Ebere Obi is still in hospital in Nnewi receiving treatment.

However, IfeanyiUbah chairman Chukuwuma Ubah denied the accusation.

“There was no way my chairman would have attacked anybody. He came on to the pitch to intervene,” he insisted.

“Rather, I was personally attacked by a drunk Heartland player.”

An official of the Anambra FA insisted he did not see the IfeanyiUbah owner assault any person after the game as his attention was divided.

“What happened was abnormal. A player was trying to assault the referee after the game and before you know it, there was a mob action,” said the official.

“I didn’t see whether Ifeanyi Ubah punched any Heartland player.

“There were exchanges of blows from here and that, you can’t identify who did what.
