Grandmother Dies After Cultists Attack Family As Search for Fleeing Son Continues

Pandemonium erupted in Amufi community in Edo State when armed cultists invaded the home of an octogenarian, Mrs.Airhihenbuwa Margaret where sporadic gunshots were fired into the atmosphere during a manhunt for Aisosa Emmanuel Unity, her grandson .

The cultists, according to information gathered, manhandled the aged octogenarian by violently pushing her to the ground with her head slamming the floor.

Trouble started for the family of the octogenarian when the grandson, witnessed the gruesome murder of a man on January 26th 2023 in Upper Sakponba road axis in Benin City .

Our correspondent was reliably informed that the cultists after the incident of January 26th 2023 had on several occasions trailed the grandson to his house to issue threats to him.

The cultists who were after his life warned him to either join the confraternity or get eliminated in order to stop him from divulging the secret murder.

An eye-witness who pleaded anonymity said Aisosa Emmanuel Unity had earlier reported the murder at the police station and arrest of some of the cultists was made in different parts of the metropolis.

Much to the chagrin of everyone in the community, the arrested cultists were released following the intervention of a prominent politician(names withheld) .

According to the eye-witness, the cultists after their unexpected release from custody went after the grandson by invading his home on March 24th 2023 where they wrecked havoc by destroying his property and personal belongings while he was away with his family .

Following repeated assaults and growing threats to life, Aisosa Emmanuel Unity and his immediate family members were reported to have abandoned and fled from their home in Benin City, it was confirmed.

Again the cultists reportedly struck on May 4th 2023 were they stormed the residence of the octogenarian grandmother Mrs.Airhihenbuwa Margaret as it was said that she was violently manhandled by the cultists who pushed her to the ground.

The grandmother, according to information gathered, landed on the floor violently with her head slamming the ground as she was later reported dead from worsening health complications.

Recently, an unscheduled visit to the residence of the the grandmother revealed that the building had been deserted as every occupants was said to have fled in order not to incur the wrath of the cultists.
