Govs Elect Induction: Osinbajo, El’Rufai, US Govs, others to speak

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; and some former governors in the United States of America (USA) are expected to speak on Monday, 29 and Tuesday, 30 April, at an induction programme for newly elected governors in the country.
A three-day event of this purpose which is organized by the secretariat of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) also has a dinner for all the governors on Sunday while a separate programme for the wives of the governors-elect on etiquette and protocol will hold on Wednesday.
Osinbajo is expected to speak on the topic, “the journey so far” on Tuesday and the Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, is expected to alongside chairman of First Bank, Ibukun Awosika, and Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Kukah, will speak on Monday on the topic, “Task of Nation Building”.
According to a source at the NGF secretariat, the Rwandan President, Kagame might not be able to attend the event physically but will be represented.
“You know he is the chairman of the African Union (AU) and our event unfortunately coincided with an AU event requiring his presence,” the source said.
Also, a former governor of New Mexico City in The United States of America is the lead presenter under the topic, “Art of Governance and Experiencing Sharing”. The session billed for Monday will be chaired by former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu.
Another former governor of Maryland State in USA, Martin O’ Marley will at the occassion second session will be the lead presenter under the topic, “Setting Priorities, managing programmes and performance expectations”, and will be chaired by senate President, Bukola Saraki, a former Kwara State governor.
The last session on Monday which will discuss “role of developing partners in sub-national development” will be chaired by Governor Nasir El’rufai of Kaduna State.
On Tuesday after the Osinbajo’s presentation, O’Marley will speak on managing the “process of governance” which will be chaired by a former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko.
Also on Tuesday and under the topic “Economic Management”, the Managing Director of Financial Derivatives, Bismirk Rewane will be the lead speaker and the session will be chaired by the Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru.
Another session on development and Financing will have the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele as the speaker and will be chaired by the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Another session will be on “Strategic Communications and press/Public Relations”, which will have the Cross-River State Governor as speaker and chaired by former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba.
A session on “Managing Security in the States” will have the National Security Adviser (NSA) Mohammed Monguno as the lead presenter while the NGF and Zamfara state Governor; Abdulazeez Yari will be the Chairman.
The last session on Tuesday and the final day of the induction will have the topic “Imperative of fighting corruption/terrorists financing in Nigeria”, where the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu will be the presenter and will have the pioneer chairman of the Commission, Nuhu Rlbadu as the guest of honor.
