The President, Rights Monitoring Group and Centre for Convention on Democratic integrity lnc Maryland United States and Nigeria, Mr Olufemi Aduwo says governors-elect in the country have no constitutional right to issue directives to sitting governors and banks not to engage in financial transactions.
Speaking on the directive given by APC governor elect Ogun state to banks not to engage in new financial transactions with the outgoing Governor Ibikunle Amosu’s administration, Olufemi Aduwo said, neither APC or Governor-elect has the constitutional rights to give directives to banks and giving marching orders against a sitting government.
Aduwo advised the Governor-elect to wait until he was sworn in adding that he can only monitor events from the sidelines till May 29.
“We cannot seek to humiliate a man just because of political differences. We must do the right thing right. The outgoing governor should be commended for re-positioning the state into an economic hub and tackling the infrastructural deficit.”
He said the governor had been able to stimulate investment in the state in the past eight years that everybody can attest to adding that the Governor-elect Prince Dapo Abiodun would not allow external influence for selfish interest to derail his relationship with the outgoing governor.
Aduwo who currently is the Permanent Representative of CCDI to ECOSCO/ United Nations and President of Centre for Convention on Democratic integrity (CCDI) commended the giant step the outgoing governor took in addressing the climate change effect in Ogun State regarding deliberate afforestation initiative in collaboration with private sector.
He noted that the preservation of Aworo forest by Larfarge where they would plant about 100,000 trees would go a long way to enhance the ecosystem and green economy.
