Campaign council formed for Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, of Nasarawa State in the forthcoming general election as senator representing Nasarawa South senatorial zone in the National Assembly has been inaugurated.
Governor Al-Makura, is contesting for the senate to represent Nasarawa South senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), after defeating his opponent former Senator Hussaini Egyegbola at the primaries.
Mr. Philip Tatari Shekwo, state chairman of the party performed the inauguration on behalf of the governor on Wednesday in Lafia, the state capital.
The party chairman told members of the campaign council to buckle up as the task before them was not a joking one as they have been saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the incumbent governor is returned as a senator by February or otherwise, they will be held responsible.
He said: “What is important is that this governor must come out victorious as a senator base on his laudable as governor of the state in all sphere of the State’s sectors to continue in another dimension than to remain idle with that vast experience.”
In an acceptance speech on behalf of members of the campaign council, Director General of the council, Mr. David Ayua, promised that the campaign council will work assiduously for the victory of not only the governor,
but all candidates contesting various elective positions on the platform of the APC in the forthcoming general election.
