Ganduje, Kwankwaso rift deepens

As the relationship between the Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his predecessor, and present Senator representing Kano Central constituency, Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso continue to get sour, majority of political officials belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, have dumped the red cap which was introduced by the former governor of the state as the symbol for the kwankwasiya movement.

Relationship between the two became sour when the former governor came to Kano State to commiserate with Ganduje over the demise of his mother, but his followers were said to have exhibited acts said to be totally unacceptable such as insulting the present governor, carrying Kwankwaso’s 2019 presidential posters, damaging some valuable equipment’s at the Aminu Kano International Airport, as well as chanting anti Ganduje’s song before his very face. The reason for Kwankwaso’s visit was to many, political rather than condolence.

The fight has however taken a new turn with political office holders reaffirming their allegiance to Ganduje, and as if that was not enough, 34 law makers in the state have renounced the “red cap” movement which they thought was a continuous movement, but realised that the former governor has no single respect for his successor.
