FG urged to prioritize participation of women in tech space

The Federal government has been urged to initiate deliberate steps to increase women’s participation in the tech world.
A non-profit startup, DO Take Action, made the call during a virtual event tagged: ‘The Women’s Dialogue’, and hosted to celebrate women and girls on the 2023 International Women’s Day.
The Co-Founder, DO Take Action, Precious Ebere, urged key stakeholders to break the barrier many women face in the tech space for a better future.
She said that to change the narrative, the organization would commit itself in using the Social Development Goals (SDGs), as a guide to curbing issues bedeviling society.
She said educating girls and women on the importance of STEM and the need to be involved would help break all odds and to follow the technology career path of their choice.

“These champions are change-makers who has in so many ways impacted their society and has taken it upon themselves out of many in their society to create a change and a balance in the technology space by changing these narrative as they used the opportunity given them by DO to bring together visionaries, tech enthusiast, educationist, and great minds to seek the way forward.
“While the virtual engagement may be over, our work as an organization and a body to advance women’s rights and empowerment continues.
“We encourage everyone to continue to advocate for gender equality to break the gender gap in the tech sector, both in their personal and professional lives. Together, we can create a world where every woman can reach her full potential,” she added.
The event, hosted by about 11 grassroots development champions from Abuja, Abia, Edo, Kaduna, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ogun and Rivers State, including Ghana, Dubia and USA, engaged in the discuss about women engagement in the tech space.
