Fayose: I won’t stop talking because Nigerians are hungry, angry

..Vows to continue leaking APC’s secrets
…As Ekweremadu calls defectors from PDP job seekers

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governors’ Forum and governor of Ekiti state, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has vowed to continue to be a thorn in the flesh of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He lamented that Nigerians are now terribly ‘hungry and angry’ due to the various policies of the APC-led federal government.
The governor made the vow while speaking at the National Executive Committee (NEC) and Expanded Caucus meeting of the PDP in Abuja on Thursday.
This is even as the deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has said that those who recently defected from the PDP to the APC in the South East have no electoral value, assuring that this would be made clear at the appropriate time.
The PDP Minority Leader in the Senate, Chief Godswill Akpabio, however hinted that about 20 Senators are on the verge of decamping from the ruling APC to the PDP. But emphasised the need for the PDP to put its house in order to be well positioned for electoral victory in the 2019 general elections
Fayose, while saying that he would not stop talking on behalf of the generality of Nigerians, noted that the whole country is tired and already looking forward to another change because of the APC’s poor handling of the country.
The governor pointed out that the PDP members are currently facing challenges which include; arrests, incarceration, intimidation, provocation by the party in government, stating however that only change is constant.
The governor said if the PDP has a few committed people, it will readily oust the APC from power in 2019 as he noted that “anything that is built on deception cannot stand the test of time.”
According to him, that is why the APC fumbled from one mistake to the other.
Fayose rubbished the anti-corruption fight of the ruling party, saying: “Nigerians are tired of the story of corruption, especially when you find people that are fighting corruption are busy stealing cows and are running after those people alleged to have stolen squirrel.”
Fayose appealed to party leaders to work together while those aspiring for offices should do so with decorum.
He said he will continue to express his mind and does not care if the federal government withdraws his police guards.
“I will continue to leak their secrets. I will remain a torn in their flesh. Anything they want to do let them come. If they want to carry their police, let them carry their police. I don’t care,” he declared.
The Deputy Senate President, while making reference to the recent spate of defections from the PDP to the ruling APC, particularly in the South East and the National Assembly, stated that such defectors did so to improve their chances of getting the contracts or the employments they are looking for.
Ekweremadu stressed further that those who defected to the APC in the South East have no electoral value, assuring that this would be made clear at the appropriate time.
The PDP membership in the National Assembly, he said, has remained strong, notwithstanding the defection.
His words: “Recently, we have heard of a number of defections from the PDP to the APC. For me, coming from the South East, they are doing registration of the APC in the South East and some people are defecting.
“Also in the National Assembly, some people have left for the APC. But my response to it is, let me start from the South East, those of my brothers and sisters who are here, they know the electoral value of each and every one of us.
“We are not going to tell you, but those who keep their ears will find out later because we allowed them so that they can get the contracts that they are seeking, we allow them to get the employment they are seeking.
“We want them to see if they can join in the lunch, breakfast or dinner going on in APC. At the appropriate time, we will know who is who in the South East.
“So, nothing to worry about. We are completely in control in the South East.”
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, said the combined meeting was necessary to adopt the outcome of the last national convention of the party in Port Harcourt.
He observed that even though the party was awaiting the judgement of the Appeal Court in Port Harcourt on the ongoing leadership crisis, it was evident that the party has remained strong.
Makarfi expressed the hope that a decision that would unify the party rather than fuel the crisis would be taken by the court.
He said: “We are still waiting for the judgment of the Court of Appeal. It’s a matter of days. We have absolute faith that the court will do what is right.
“No one will see us gathered here and say PDP is not here. A unified pronouncement from the court will be a basis for moving forward for the party and Nigeria.
“We need a strong foundation to stand the test of time or else the squabble will continue. We have to exercise patience. The judiciary is taking its time to do a very good job,” he said.
