Fast-track implementation of peace process in Niger Delta, monarch tells FG

The monarch of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro Gbaraun 11, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government of Delta state has urged the Federal Government to fast-track implementation of the peace process in the Niger Delta.
The king made the call during the first coronation anniversary of his kingship in Oporoza, the administrative headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
He said that was the only way to sustain the relative peace that had returned to the once volatile region.
The monarch also urged the government to evolve a master plant to address the infrastructural challenges in Niger Delta.
“I commend president Muhammadu Buhari for sending the vice president Yemi Osinbajo to the Niger Delta to engage the people on peace and security talk, the visit is an eye opener.
“We are faced with numerous problems, so government should not just celebrate the relative peace and the high crude oil production in the region but give attention to the numerous problems confronting the people.
“Based on that I urged the Federal Government to fast-track the process of implementing the short and medium term goals as contained in the various addresses presented to to him during the vice president visit,” he said.
The monarch, however, suggested restructuring as panacea to addressing the plethora of problem plaguing the country adding that it could be achieved by implementing the 2014 National Conference report.
Also speaking, Mr Godspower Gbenekama. the acting Secretary, Gbaramatu Traditional Council thanked God for given the monarch the grace and wisdom to rule the people well.
“The king has done so well and I wish him more successful reign in the royal stool, we are all happy,” he said.
