Expert calls for synergy in ending insecurity

A security expert and Group Managing Director, Perceival Security and Safety Agencies Limited (PSSA), Prince Abiodun Soyele says that only synergy between Nigerians and security agencies can guarantee lasting victory over insurgency and insecurity in the country.
Soyele told journalists on Thursday in Abuja that that to defeat bandits and other criminal activities, the security of life and property must not be left alone to the security agencies alone.
He spoke at the official launching of PSSA and China Security Technology Group Company (CSTG) partnership in Abuja. Soyele lamented that the prevailing incidences of insecurity such as kidnapping, banditry, illicit drugs has no doubt become a serious concern not only in Nigeria, but the world at large.
Therefore, he stressed the need to work in collaboration with the security agencies in fighting crime, especially insurgency and insecurity, adding that Nigeria belongs to all and must be protected jealously with all our might.
“As a country, we are doing what is necessary to be done, but like I said, we cannot arrest these people if there is no information. You and I should be the watchdog and each other’s keeper.
“These bandits are not gods; they are human beings like us. They have veins like us and they live amongst us. We should not just say it is the duty of the government. There should be no tribal or religious sentiment; like you want to cover anybody, somebody that is not doing the right thing. Let him know that he is not doing the right thing. If you support him, you are aiding and abetting crime.
“This case of crime and banditry is not limited to Nigeria alone. It is happening all over the world. It happens in America, Britain, everywhere and it can only be nipped in the bud through information available to them.
“What we need to do here is to appreciate the fact that information is key. They need the information. If you give them the information they will swing into action,’’ he said.
On his part, Mr. Liu Zhong Feng, CSTG vice president expressed optimism that its collaboration with PSSA will play an active and valuable role in manpower training, security solution improvement, employment of technological and technical approaches to ensure that the menace of insecurity is tackled.
He added that the partnership is a mark of new beginning for positive changes.
