Etebo not Warri Wolves player –LMC
The League Management Company (LMC) have declared Europe-bound Nigeria U23 star Oghenekaro Etebo does not have a contract with Warri Wolves and he is therefore a free player.
“Etebo’s contract with Wolves ended on January 10 and so he is a free player,” disclosed a top official of the LMC.
This is a sharp departure by the Wolves officialdom, which has maintained the player still has a contract with them and any transfer negotiations have to be routed through them.
It was based on this position that they slammed a $2 million on the player.
Attacking midfielder Etebo joined hometown club Wolves in the 2013 season from Lord Honour FC.
The 20-year-old star, whose idol is Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, inspired Nigeria to win the U-23 AFCON in Senegal in December, when he scored twice in the final against Algeria.
His exploits at the tournament will go on to fetch him the CAF Most Promising Player for the past year.
