Enugu State Investment summit partners Daily Times

The Enugu State Investment Summit (Oganiru) has announced the Daily Times of Nigeria as the official media partner for its maiden summit which will take place from April 12 – 14, 2016 at the Michael Okpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu.
The partnership will see the Daily Times, Nigeria’s foremost newspaper, publishing news and special reports about the summit prior, during and after the event. It will also provide a platform for advertisers to make inroads into the state as well as other South East states.
The summit themed Beyond Oil: Fostering Inclusive Economic Growth & Sustainable Development” is an initiative of the Enugu State Economic Advisory Committee, set up by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in June 2015 to advise and guide the state on the best economic policies that would help to engender sustainable economic growth.
According to Gov. Ugwuanyi, Oganiru is a platform through which the government of Enugu State seeks to collaborate with the private sector to promote enterprise and improve economic productivity.
“We believe that real progress happens by bringing together people from all walks of life who have the drive, influence and resources to stimulate socio-economic growth, and by fostering a favourable legal and regulatory climate for businesses to thrive.
To this end, the summit will engage the best from diverse organisations – including the public and private sector, international organisations and academic institutions – to shape regional and industry agendas,” he disclosed.
Gov. Ugwuanyi said the summit has become expedient in the light of dwindling oil revenues.
“After series of deliberations, the committee articulated an Economic Blueprint, which is aligned with the development agenda of the state based on my 4-Point Agenda of: Employment Generation, Social Services and Good Governance, Rural Development, Security and Justice.
“The Blueprint appraises the current situation of the state and articulates the strategic alternatives available to the state. It further outlines the financing plan for the proposed strategic economic options which will involve public private partnerships, privatization and commercialization of selected State assets, direct funding, amongst others.
The State Government, under my leadership is committed to implementing the Blueprint to ensure its success” he disclosed.
The summit is the first investor forum of its scale in Nigeria’s South East, and it will bring together stakeholders critical to advancing business interests across a variety of industries, not only in Enugu State but also the entire region.
