Enugu to revoke agreements on recreational centres

The Enugu State House of Assembly has called on Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to revoke, with immediate effect, all contractual agreements of the Tourism Board on parks, open spaces, recreational centres and other related facilities, to ensure their total and immediate repossession.

The House also directed the General Manager of the Enugu State Tourism Board to ensure that due process is followed in future award of contracts on the facilities.

Members equally urged the Commissioner for Enugu Capital Territory to demolish forthwith all illegal structures within the aforementioned parks and open spaces.

The decision mandating the revocation and other actions followed a motion presented to the House at a plenary yesterday by the member representing Igbo-Etiti East, Hon. Ezenta Ezeani on urgent need to ensure that the parks regained their past glory and serve as good revenue sources for the state.

Presenting the motion, Ezenta Ezeani, House Committee Chairman on Culture and Tourism,  said that there was need to look inwards to ensure that the centres are repositioned to yield revenue for the state in this critical economic crunch in the country.
